Teen Treatment

Teenagers represent the largest group in an orthodontic practice since they often have, or are close to having, all their adult teeth. This is also a stage in their life when they want to straighten their teeth.

Many teenagers opt for metal braces and enjoy choosing the colors that go around them, changing the colors at each visit. Some teens who want to keep their treatment discrete choose upper clear braces, while many choose clear aligners like Invisalign.

Life with braces is now more comfortable, stylish, and easier than ever. Regardless of the option you choose, Murray Orthodontics can help you achieve a beautiful, healthy smile.

How long will I have orthodontic treatment?

  • Early treatment – Early intervention allows orthodontists to monitor jaw growth. It’s not recommended for everyone, and in some cases, it’s best to wait until the patient is older.

  • Treatment reaction – Patients respond differently to treatments, with treatment times varying based on the amount of work needed and how quickly the body responds.

  • YOU! – Taking care of your smile and appliances is crucial. Damaged appliances can prolong treatment. To shorten your time in braces, follow the doctor’s orders and consistently wear the prescribed appliances.

Does orthodontia for teens hurt?

Braces and Invisalign Teen are generally not painful. You may experience some tenderness when starting treatment or after adjustments, but this is temporary. To relieve discomfort, try rinsing your mouth with a warm saltwater solution. If the pain persists, consider taking a pain reliever.
