Pediatric Treatment

MMany parents have concerns about braces for their children. They wonder why their child needs to see an orthodontist, the difference between early and regular treatment, and how early treatment can benefit their child in the long run.

The American Association of Orthodontists suggests that children visit an orthodontist as early as age seven when they typically have a mix of baby and adult teeth. Not every seven-year-old requires early treatment, but a consultation can help determine if it would be beneficial. If not, our doctors can advise what to expect when your child is between 11 and 13 years old and has all their adult teeth.

What causes orthodontic problems?

Orthodontic issues can be inherited or result from factors like crowded teeth, too much space between teeth, jaw growth problems, protruding teeth, mouth injuries, early or late loss of baby teeth, or thumb-sucking habits.

How will early treatment help my child?

While early treatment can be helpful in some cases, it’s not necessary for every child. It’s important to seek two or three different orthodontic consultations to determine what’s best for your child. Our doctors always prioritize the patient’s best interest when recommending whether or not to pursue early treatment.
